Ahead of Red Bull Music Academy presents Tropical on 16th April in Manchester, we caught up with Jme and Logan Sama for an in-depth discussion on some grime current affairs. The first thing on the menu was Kanye West’s performance at the Brit Awards last night, which saw him joined by some of the scene’s most notable figures including Skepta, Jammer, Novelist and Stormzy. In our interview we find out whether Jme was there or not, Nando’s selfies, how it came about, what the concept was and more…
Lets start off by talking about the Brits last night. Were you there Jme? I know Logan wasn’t…
J: Logan was, Logan was on stage with Kanye!
L: Nah I wasn’t he’s chatting shit. It was Discarda, we look the same.
J: Maximum and Discarda innit. Nah I wasn’t there either man, I was mean’t to go but I hadn’t eaten all day. If I went there that means I would have went 24 hours with no food. It was either die or watch it at home. So I chose to watch it at home.
L: Or you could have gone and had snacks backstage.
J: I could have gone Nandos with Kanye, stood on the table and said take a picture. I saw that on Twitter as well. Kanye went Nandos, stood on the till – I’m guessing he was trying to order and people were like ‘Picture, picture, picture.’
L: Can I take a selfie.
J: So he jumped on the desk and said take one now!
